Mercurey is located in the northern part of the Côte Chalonnaise, between Rully and Givry, and stands as the region's largest village appellation in both area and production. The vineyards here feature clay-limestone and marl soils, situated on slopes at altitudes ranging from 230 to 350 meters. Recognized as the most serious and highest-producing Pinot Noir appellation in the Côte Chalonnaise, Mercurey also contains 30 Premier Cru Climats. The 1993 vintage from this area achieved a score of 85 points, noted for presenting a good structure and a classic style.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe wine is bottled at 13% alcohol by volume in a 750 ml format.
