Lombardy is a region characterized by an incredible geographical span, ranging from dramatic mountains in the north to foggy plains in the south. While the region is widely recognized for extremes such as Franciacorta and the steep alpine terraces of Valtellina, Oltrepò Pavese remains one of its most significant wine-producing areas. The area is highly regarded for its classic method sparkling wines as well as local specialties.

This specific cuvée is crafted from a blend of 60% Croatina, 30% Barbera, and 10% Uva Rara. Croatina is a blue grape primarily cultivated in northern Italy, with historical records tracing its local cultivation back to the Middle Ages. Originally believed to stem from Croatia, it gained widespread popularity in the 19th century due to its resistance to mildew. It is characterized by late ripening and high yields.

Uva Rara, despite its name translating directly to "rare grape," is relatively common in Lombardy and Piedmont. The name refers instead to the vine's loose and open clusters. It is a vigorous, mid-to-late ripening variety that thrives in clay soils and offers good resistance to rot. Together with the classic Italian Barbera grape, these varieties are traditionally blended to form the structural foundation of this regional specialty.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0646/3478/1950/files/generated-1584_7319122f-3969-434c-ba22-a783c740853d.jpg?v=1792135666
