Classified as a Denominación de Origen Gran Reserva, this wine originates from Valdepeñas, a historic Spanish wine region located in the southern part of Castilla-La Mancha within the Ciudad Real province. During its production, the wine underwent two years of barrel aging.

Valdepeñas, which literally translates to "valley of rocks," is almost entirely surrounded by the vast La Mancha appellation but holds its own independent DO status. Granted in 1932, it is one of Spain's oldest recognized appellations. The vineyards are situated on a high plateau at an altitude of 700 to 800 meters above sea level. The region features a distinctly continental and very dry climate, characterized by extreme temperature fluctuations. Summers are scorching, often exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, while winters can bring frost down to minus 10 degrees. Combined with more than 2,500 annual hours of sunshine and sparse rainfall, these harsh conditions naturally protect the vines from diseases and ensure a high concentration in the grapes. The soils are primarily composed of red limestone, sand, and clay with a high stone content, providing excellent drainage.

This wine is crafted from Tempranillo, Spain's primary red grape variety, which is locally known as Cencibel. While Tempranillo is widely planted in prominent regions such as Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and California, it forms the backbone of the classic structured wines of Valdepeñas. The winemaking tradition in this area dates back to antiquity, and for centuries, the region was the preferred wine supplier to the capital, Madrid.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0646/3478/1950/files/generated-1740_45611521-eea9-429a-8875-8d06f6f2b4f1.jpg?v=1792748133
