Barolo through time - Tasting box
Barolo through time – three vintages from 1958 to 1993
Experience more than three decades of Barolo history in one tasting case.
Barolo is among Italy’s most famous wines and is made exclusively from Nebbiolo – a grape known for its pronounced structure, high acidity, and fantastic ability to develop through decades in bottle.
In this tasting case, we have brought together three Barolo wines from 1958, 1979, and 1993. Three different producers and three different periods in Barolo’s history, but with the same area and the same grape as the common thread.
The case contains:
Barolo Fratelli Alessandria 1958
The oldest wine in the case and a true piece of Piedmont history. With more than 65 years of development in bottle, we are here far from the powerful tannins and fresh fruit of young Barolo.
A wine of this age is instead about the complex tertiary aromas that old Nebbiolo is famous for: dried flowers, leather, spices, forest floor, tobacco, and ripe red fruits.
Barolo Manzone Francesco & Figli 1979
More than 20 years younger than the first wine in the case and thus an exciting next step in the tasting.
This Barolo is produced by Manzone Francesco & Figli in Monforte d'Alba and provides the opportunity to experience how Nebbiolo develops after more than four decades in bottle. A classic mature Barolo expression with structure, complexity, and the characteristic developed aromas that come with long bottle aging.
Barolo Zonchera 1993
The youngest wine in the case brings the tasting into the 1990s. Here you get the opportunity to experience a Barolo that still has more than 30 years of age, but which at the same time is at a different stage of development than the wines from 1958 and 1979.
It provides an ideal basis for comparison to experience how Nebbiolo’s fruit, tannin, and structure change character through the decades.
Three Barolo wines – 35 years of difference
What makes Barolo through time special is the opportunity to taste three historic vintages side by side.
Start in 1958, continue to 1979, and finish in 1993. In this way, you can follow the development of Barolo through more than three decades and experience how the same grape and the same wine region can develop very different expressions over time.
It is a tasting for the curious wine enthusiast, the Barolo lover, or for a special evening where the history behind the bottles is at least as important as the wine in the glass.
Only a limited number of cases are available.

you your wine
Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
