Les Epenottes Beaune Premier Cru 1985
Produced in the historic region of Burgundy in eastern France, this 1985 Les Epenottes Beaune Premier Cru reflects a terroir originally mapped by medieval monks. The region is renowned for its finely meshed system of climats and limestone soils. Situated in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, the historic trade town of Beaune is home to the annual Hospices de Beaune auction. The area features 42 Premier Cru climats spread across limestone and clay soils on slopes ranging from 220 to 300 meters in elevation. The 1985 vintage from this area achieved a score of 92 points and is described as classic, elegant, and still vibrant.
This estate-bottled red wine holds a Premier Cru Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée classification and is crafted entirely from Pinot Noir. This elegant blue grape is the defining varietal of the region, though it is also prominently grown in Champagne, Germany, Oregon, and California. The fruit for this specific release was cultivated in the Les Epenottes vineyard.
Domaine Parent stands as one of the oldest continuous wine-producing families in the Côte de Beaune. The family has been cultivating vines in Burgundy since the 1600s, originally in Volnay, before Claude Parent officially established the modern house in Pommard in 1803. A notable piece of the estate's history is that Etienne Parent supplied wine to Thomas Jefferson in 1787, marking an early milestone in their international presence. Since 1998, the estate has been led by sisters Anne and Catherine Parent, the twelfth generation and the first women to direct the winery. Their 10 hectares of vineyards are primarily located in Pommard, supplemented by Corton Grand Cru parcels. The domain was certified organic by ECOCERT in 2013 and biodynamic by Demeter in 2024.

Burgundy
Burgundy in eastern France was shaped by medieval monks who mapped the area's countless terroirs. The region grows almost exclusively Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and has turned terroir into an art form with its finely meshed system of climats. From Chablis in the north to the Côte d'Or and Mâconnais in the south, the limestone soil yields some of the world's most sought-after and elegant wines.
