Pigeonnier de Seguin Bordeaux Supérieur Château de Seguin 2000
Château de Seguin is located in Entre-Deux-Mers, one of the largest wine areas in Bordeaux, stretching between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers. While historically known for white wines, the estate today produces classic Bordeaux wines outside the prestigious Médoc and Saint-Émilion communes. The region of Bordeaux, situated by the Atlantic Ocean, has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages and remains the world's most famous wine region. The 2000 vintage of Pigeonnier de Seguin comes from a year that achieved a score of 96 points and is described as full-bodied.
The name 'Pigeonnier de Seguin' refers to the dovecote at Château de Seguin, which is depicted on the label. This specific cuvée was first launched in 1995 to mark the tenth anniversary of Chris-Wine A/S's ownership of the estate, a tradition continued with this specially selected batch from the 2000 vintage. The wine is vinified in collaboration with the cellar master at Château de Seguin, strictly following the traditions and requirements of the area.
The wine holds the Appellation Bordeaux Supérieur Contrôlée classification, a regional AOC established in 1943 that covers the entire Bordeaux region. This designation requires stricter production rules than basic Bordeaux, including lower yields, higher minimum alcohol levels, older vines, denser planting, and at least nine months of aging. The wine is crafted from a blend of the classic blue grapes Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with a majority of the latter. Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world's most renowned grapes, frequently grown in Bordeaux, California, Washington, and Tuscany. Merlot is similarly prominent in these regions as well as in Northern Italy.

Bordeaux
Bordeaux on the Atlantic is the world's most famous wine region and has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages. The legendary 1855 classification still ranks the area's leading châteaux. On the left bank of the Gironde, Cabernet Sauvignon dominates on gravel soils, while the right bank is the domain of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
