Hautes Côtes de Beaune Charles Viénot 1993
Established in 1735, Charles Viénot is one of the oldest merchant houses in Burgundy. Operating out of Nuits-Saint-Georges, the house has built its reputation on a rigorous selection of wines from the region's vineyards. This 1993 Hautes Côtes de Beaune was carefully aged in the producer's ancient cellars located beneath the historic Ursuline convent. Furthermore, the wine was recognized and selected in 1995 by the Jurés-Gourmets of the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin.
The wine originates from the Hautes Côtes de Beaune within the broader Burgundy region of eastern France. Burgundy's viticultural landscape was originally shaped by medieval monks who meticulously mapped the area's countless terroirs. Today, the region is renowned for its fine-meshed system of climats and limestone soils, primarily cultivating Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The 1993 vintage from this area achieved a score of 85 points and is characterized by a good structure and a classic style, reflecting the traditional qualities of the Appellation Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune Contrôlée.
