Cachapoal Valley Reservado Casas del Toqui 2002
The 2002 Cachapoal Valley Reservado is an estate-bottled red wine produced by Casas del Toqui S.A. in Chile. The estate's foundation is rooted in a 1994 partnership between the Granella family and the French Château Larose Trintaudon from Haut-Médoc, who joined forces with the aim of producing high-quality Chilean wines.
This wine originates from the D.O. Cachapoal Valley appellation. The vineyard is situated in the far southeast of the Cachapoal river valley, nestled in the foothills of the Andes. This specific location benefits from distinct climatic conditions, characterized by alternating hot, sunny days and cool nights, which influence the ripening process of the grapes.
The wine is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, one of the world's most famous dark grapes utilized for structured red wines, widely cultivated in prominent regions such as Bordeaux, California, Washington, and Tuscany. The grapes for this Reservado were hand-picked between the end of February and mid-April. Following vinification, the wine was aged for a year in a combination of American and French oak barrels.
