Carema Produttori di Carema fra årgang 1966 er en rødvin skabt af Cantina dei Produttori Nebbiolo di Carema. Kooperativet blev grundlagt i 1960 af lokale vinavlere i den lille kommune Carema, der ligger i det nordvestlige Piemonte tæt på grænsen til Valle d'Aosta. Piemonte, hvis navn bogstaveligt betyder "ved bjergets fod", er omkranset af Alperne og betragtes som en af verdens mest prestigefyldte vinregioner med et stort fokus på terroir. Vinen er fremstillet af druen Nebbiolo, som lokalt går under navnene Picotener eller Picotendro. Her løftes vinstokkene op på granitsøjler og stenpiller, så rankerne breder sig vandret som et grønt tag over vingården. Dette system er udviklet for at maksimere indfangningen af sollys i det kølige alpine klima og udgør en vigtig del af områdets kulturarv.
Fremstillingen af vinen overvåges nøje fra høst til vinifikation af det lokale konsortium, og vinen gennemgår en naturlig lagring på egetræsfade inden aftapning. Vinproduktionen i Carema har dybe historiske rødder og har længe været anerkendt for sin kvalitet. Allerede i 1500-tallet fremhævede forfatteren Andrea Bacci vinen i sit værk "De Vinis Italiae", hvor han bemærkede, at den blev serveret ved hertugerne af Savoyens hof. Everyday heroes: In addition to Nebbiolo, the region is famous for the grapes Barbera (juicy, acidic and incredibly popular) and Dolcetto (dark, soft and fruity).
The white and sweet: Piedmont also makes the crisp white wine Gavi and the famous, lightly sparkling dessert bubbles Moscato d'Asti.
The landscape: Dramatic, steep hills – especially in the Langhe sub-area. The hills are often shrouded in thick morning mist in autumn, which protects the grapes and allows for a long, perfect ripening.
Gastronomy: An absolute mecca for food lovers. The area is world famous for the exclusive white truffles from Alba, hazelnuts and rich, simmered dishes that scream with a glass of local red wine.
