Guardian Reserva Mancura 2015
The Guardian Reserva Mancura from the 2015 vintage is a 14% ABV Chilean red wine produced and bottled by Viña Fray León S.A. in Pelequén. The Mancura brand serves as a tribute to the mythical Condor of the Andes. Recognized as the largest bird on the planet, the condor is a powerful symbol of pre-Columbian cultures, traditionally seen as a guardian of the earth from the Andean skies.
This Reserva is crafted in the Maipo Valley, situated near Santiago. Founded in the mid-1800s with French grape varieties, the Maipo Valley stands as Chile's oldest and most classic wine region. The area's warm valley climate, combined with the elevated slopes of the Andes Mountains, creates an environment renowned for yielding structured and elegant red wines, making the region particularly famous for its Cabernet Sauvignon production.
This specific wine is made from Carménère, a historic grape variety originally hailing from Bordeaux. While it can still be found in its native France, as well as in Northern Italy and California, Carménère is today most prominently associated with Chile, where it has become a defining cornerstone of the country's viticulture.
