Le Ville Chianti Classico Ruffino 1971
The 1971 Le Ville Chianti Classico is a historical red wine from Ruffino, originating from Tuscany, one of Italy's most iconic wine regions with roots dating back to the Etruscans. This specific 1971 vintage is described as powerful and achieved a score of 93 points. The wine comes from Chianti Classico, Tuscany's historic core area located between Florence and Siena, which is recognized by its black rooster symbol and stands as one of Italy's most important appellations.
The foundation of this wine is Sangiovese, the undisputed main grape of Italy, which is frequently grown in regions such as Tuscany, Umbria, Emilia Romagna, and California. According to the original label, this wine was produced in the Ruffino estates of Greve, Passo dei Pecorai, and San Polo in Chianti. These estates are situated within the oldest origin zone, officially delimited and defined as the Chianti Classico zone by the Presidential Decree of August 9, 1967. The wine was both vinified and bottled directly within this production zone and holds a Denominazione d'Origine Controllata classification with an alcohol content of 12.5 percent.
Ruffino was founded in 1877 by cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino in Pontassieve, a small town east of Florence in the Arno river valley. Over nearly a century and a half, the historic Tuscan winery has been a central voice in the region. The house is widely known for its classic flagship, Riserva Ducale, which has existed since 1927 and was named after the Duke of Aosta following his visit to the estate. Today, Ruffino's production covers a broad spectrum of Tuscany, including Brunello di Montalcino from the Greppone Mazzi estate and Bolgheri through Modus Primo, representing classic Tuscan winemaking on a globally oriented scale.

Tuscany
Tuscany is one of Italy's most iconic wine regions, with roots reaching back to the Etruscans. Sangiovese is the undisputed principal grape and forms the basis for classics such as Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. From the 1970s the prestigious Super Tuscans also emerged along the coast. The rolling hills produce structured red wines with cherry, herbs and firm tannins.
