Château Troupian Haut Médoc Societe Fermiere des Grands Crus de France 2006
Château Troupian is a red wine produced by Societe Fermiere des Grands Crus de France under the Appellation Haut-Médoc Contrôlée. Formerly recognized as a Cru Bourgeois, the wine originates from the Lestage Simon property located in the commune of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne. While the Haut-Médoc area is generally known for blends dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, this specific estate features a clay-limestone terroir where Merlot thrives. As a result, the wine is crafted from a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet.
The Haut-Médoc forms the southern and most prestigious section of the Médoc peninsula on the left bank of the Gironde. It is a key part of Bordeaux, a world-renowned wine region by the Atlantic Ocean that has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages and is famous for its historic 1855 classification. In this historic setting, the 2006 vintage is characterized as tight and classic, earning a score of 88 points on the 100-point scale.
Following the harvest and blending process, the wine is bottled directly at the château. It is produced as a traditional French red wine with an alcohol content of 13%.
