Clou d'Orge Ladoix Premier Cru 1995
Produced by Mestre Père et Fils, the Clou d'Orge Ladoix Premier Cru originates from the Clou d'Orge vineyard in eastern France. The wine comes from Ladoix, the northernmost village appellation in the Côte de Beaune, situated at the foot of the Montagne de Corton.
Ladoix is part of the greater Bourgogne region, an area shaped by medieval monks who meticulously mapped its countless terroirs. Bourgogne has made terroir an art form with its fine-meshed system of climats, and Ladoix itself is home to 11 Premier Cru sites. The 1995 vintage from this area is described as mature and classic with good structure, earning a score of 87 points. Despite its prestigious location, Ladoix is often considered one of the most underrated villages in the Côte de Beaune.
The vineyards of Ladoix are planted at altitudes ranging from 230 to 325 meters. The terroir features stony, iron-rich oolite soils at the top of the slopes, transitioning to brownish limestone in the middle. This environment is primarily dedicated to the cultivation of Pinot Noir, along with a smaller proportion of Chardonnay.
The history of the wine

Burgundy
Burgundy in eastern France was shaped by medieval monks who mapped the area's countless terroirs. The region grows almost exclusively Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and has turned terroir into an art form with its finely meshed system of climats. From Chablis in the north to the Côte d'Or and Mâconnais in the south, the limestone soil yields some of the world's most sought-after and elegant wines.
