Château Haut-Drouillard presents this 1996 red wine from the Lussac-Saint-Émilion appellation. Owned by J. and M. Boudot, the estate produces this Grand Vin de Bordeaux under the Appellation Lussac St. Emilion Controlée. The 1996 vintage achieved a score of 94 points and is described as classic and structured, reflecting the conditions of the year. The wine was selected and bottled by Peter Mertes A/S and is presented in a 750 ml bottle with an alcohol content of 12% by volume.
Lussac-Saint-Émilion is an AOC located on the right bank of Bordeaux in the Libournais district, approximately nine kilometers northeast of Saint-Émilion. As one of the four Saint-Émilion satellites, the area features an undulating landscape around the village of Lussac. The terroir consists of a mixture of soil types, including clay-limestone on the ridges, sand and gravel on the lower sections, and pockets of limestone bedrock. The oceanic climate is moderated by the water masses of the Dordogne river, providing mild temperatures and a certain level of humidity. The appellation exclusively produces red wines, which are heavily dominated by Merlot, typically making up 70 to 90 percent of the plantings. This grape thrives on the cool clay-limestone soils and is traditionally supplemented by Cabernet Franc and smaller amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon.

Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.

Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
