Margaux Grand Cru Classé en 1855 Château Marquis D'Alesme Becker 1989
Château Marquis d'Alesme Becker is a historic estate whose origins date back to 1585 when the vineyard was created by the Marquis of Alesme. Later, under the ownership of the Dutch Becker family, the estate achieved the prestigious rank of Troisième Cru in the legendary 1855 classification. Situated as a neighbor to the renowned Château Margaux, the property was managed by Jean-Claude Zuger at the time this wine was produced. This 1989 vintage was bottled directly at the estate under the Appellation Margaux Contrôlée.
Located on the Atlantic coast, Bordeaux has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages and remains a highly celebrated wine region. The estate is situated in Margaux, a famous commune appellation in the southern part of the Médoc on the left bank of the Gironde estuary. Here, the gravel soils provide an ideal foundation for Cabernet Sauvignon, which typically dominates the local blends alongside Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The Margaux area is widely recognized for producing wines of great elegance and finesse. The 1989 vintage is characterized as full-bodied and concentrated, earning a score of 96 points.
