About the region

Navarra lies in northern Spain between the Pyrenees in the north and the river Ebro in the south, immediately east of Rioja. The area is a large and climatically varied DO with five subzones and spans over 100 kilometres in length, where climates from the Atlantic, the Mediterranean and the continental interior meet.

The area is historically famous for its dry rosé wines (rosados) made from Garnacha with short maceration, but since the 1980s Tempranillo has taken over as the most important red grape, complemented by Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Graciano. The white wines are made from Chardonnay, Viura, Garnacha Blanca and Moscatel. The soils range from gravel and limestone in the higher zones to alluvial clay near the Ebro. The reds are typically full-bodied and structured with ripe cherry, plum, blackberry, spices and firm tannins, while the rosés are fresh and fruit-driven with strawberry, raspberry, currant and a salmon-pink colour. The area is known as Spain's most important rosé region and a dynamic producer of both traditional and international styles.

Super service and very helpful. Lost one of the bottles during transport and reported it to Bottles With History. It was fixed immediately and a new bottle was sent immediately. (Actually a better wine in my opinion) It is very difficult to guarantee that older bottles are drinkable, like the Barolo from 69 I tried. Anders came to the rescue again and of course sent a new bottle of the same caliber. Thank you very much for the good service, can definitely recommend shopping here in safe hands.
