Des Jonqueyres Premières Côtes de Blaye is a classic French wine produced by Isabelle et Pascal Montaut. This 2001 vintage was estate-bottled and proudly carries the title of Grand Vin de Bordeaux, reflecting the long-standing traditions of the world's most famous wine region. Bordeaux has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages, and its historical prestige remains deeply rooted in the local viticulture.
The wine originates from Premières Côtes de Blaye, a historical appellation situated on the right bank of the Gironde estuary, directly opposite the renowned Médoc peninsula. Although the appellation system was restructured in 2009 and the area was officially renamed Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux, older vintages like this one retain the original designation on their labels. The 2001 vintage is characterized as elegant and acid-driven, earning a score of 89 points.
The local maritime climate is heavily influenced by the nearby Gironde estuary, which acts as a temperature regulator and creates a stable environment for the vines. The landscape is defined by rolling hills and valleys, where the soil consists predominantly of a clay and limestone mix. In certain parts of the appellation, deposits of sand and gravel provide excellent drainage for the vineyards.
While the left bank of Bordeaux is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon grown on gravel, the right bank is the traditional domain of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Premières Côtes de Blaye is historically recognized for producing well-structured red wines based on these classic Bordeaux blends, resulting in elegant wines of great finesse that truly capture the essence of the right bank's wine culture.

Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
