The 1989 Domaine des Trois Clochers is a classic expression of the Appellation Premières Côtes de Bordeaux Contrôlée. Bottled directly at the estate by the owner, SCA Cht. de Haux, this wine comes from a highly regarded year. The 1989 vintage achieved a score of 96 points and is recognized for being full-bodied and concentrated.
The Premières Côtes de Bordeaux appellation forms a narrow, 60-kilometer belt along the right bank of the Garonne river, stretching from Bassens just north of the city of Bordeaux down to Saint-Maixant. The vineyards are primarily situated on slopes directly facing the renowned Graves and Sauternes areas on the opposite bank. The maritime and temperate climate benefits from the stabilizing effect of the river, while the varied terroir consists predominantly of clay, limestone, gravel, and marl. The elevated, well-drained slopes provide highly favorable growing conditions. Established in 1937, the appellation originally covered both red and white wines, meaning older vintages from before the 2009 restructuring, such as this 1989 release, can be either red or white.

Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.

Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
