Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Château Trimoulet 1997
The 1997 Château Trimoulet is a Grand Cru red wine from the renowned Bordeaux region in France. The estate's vineyard is situated north of the medieval town of Saint-Émilion on a very sunny hillside. The property takes its name from Jean Trimoulet, who served as a Jurat of the City of Saint-Émilion at the end of the 17th century. Historically, the château's production has been recognized at international exhibitions and featured on the wine lists of prestigious restaurants worldwide.
This wine belongs to the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation, an area located on the right bank of the Gironde estuary. Geographically covering the same 5,400 hectares and eight municipalities as the standard Saint-Émilion appellation—a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999—the Grand Cru designation requires adherence to stricter production rules. These include lower yields, higher minimum alcohol levels, and longer aging periods of at least 20 months. The 1997 vintage from this historic terroir is characterized as light and fruity, receiving a score of 83 points.
Bordeaux has been exporting wine since the Middle Ages and remains globally recognized for its historic estates. While the left bank is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon on gravel soils, the right bank is the traditional domain of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The vines in Saint-Émilion grow on a complex patchwork of limestone plateaus, clay-limestone slopes, gravel, and sandy soils. In accordance with the appellation's traditions, the wines are primarily based on Merlot, supported by Cabernet Franc and a smaller proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. This specific 1997 release was bottled at the château and contains 12.5% alcohol by volume.

Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.

Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
