Vintage Piedmont Tasting Box
Vintage Piemonte – three historic wines from the 1960s and 70s
Travel back to Piemonte to a time when the region’s great wines were still far less well known outside Italy.
This tasting case brings together three historic wines from 1964, 1968 and 1970 – all rooted in Piemonte and with Nebbiolo as the common thread. It offers a rare opportunity to taste three wines more than 50 years old side by side and experience how producer, region and vintage are all expressed after decades of development in bottle.
The case contains:
Pertinace Antico 1964
The oldest wine in the case. A historic Piemonte wine based on Nebbiolo from 1964, which after more than 60 years in bottle represents the fully mature side of the region’s classic wine tradition. Here, the experience is not about fresh, youthful fruit, but about the complex nuances that can only arise through many decades of bottle ageing.
Barbaresco C. Ghignone 1968
A classic Barbaresco from 1968 and thus another example of Nebbiolo’s enormous ability to develop over time. Barbaresco is traditionally associated with a slightly more elegant and approachable expression than Barolo. After almost six decades in bottle, you can expect a mature expression with dried fruit, flowers, spices, leather and forest floor.
Barolo Marchesi di Barolo 1970
The tasting concludes with Barolo from the historic house of Marchesi di Barolo. Barolo is Piemonte’s most famous interpretation of Nebbiolo and is known for its structure, acidity and ability to develop over decades. The 1970 vintage offers the opportunity to experience a Barolo that has had more than half a century to develop its character.
Three wines – six years apart – more than 160 years of combined age
What makes the Vintage Piemonte case special is not only the age of the wines. It is the opportunity to open three bottles from the same region and the same historical period and compare them directly.
From 1964 through Barbaresco 1968 to Barolo 1970, you get three different interpretations of Piemonte and Nebbiolo – all shaped by more than half a century in bottle.
An obvious tasting case for wine enthusiasts, a special evening with friends, or for those who want to experience what old Piemonte wine really tastes like.

How it handles
you your wine
Storage
Store the bottle horizontally at 12–14°C and avoid direct sunlight, vibrations, and temperature fluctuations.
Opening
Allow the bottle to stand upright for 24–48 hours before opening to allow sediment to settle. Use a professional corkscrew and open carefully.
Enjoyment
Serve at 17–18°C and be patient – there is a great difference in how and how quickly wines open up when they are aerated.
