Black Week 2025 – Historic wines for historic demand

Black Week at BottleswithHistory is not just a campaign. It's the only week of the year where we open a window into the most mythical areas of the wine world – at prices that normally only belong to professional buyers and auctions.

This year we are raising the level of ambition even further.

We've selected rare bottles from some of Europe's most iconic regions – Burgundy, Piedmont, Bordeaux and Rioja – all with documented history, culture and age. These are wines that aren't just enjoyed. They're told about.

Focus 2025: Mature European Classics

This year, Black Week 2025 places special emphasis on mature wines. Not “aging potential” – but actual aged quality.

Examples from this year's range:

Burgundy 1985 from Leroy – a historic vintage from one of the area's most sought-after producers.
Côtes du Rhône 1985 Prieuré St Julien – beautiful and ripe red wine from the southern terroirs of France.
Montagny 1985 Vignerons de Buxy – beautifully ripe white Burgundy, where the acidity is nicely integrated.

For the dedicated wine lover, these are bottles that represent time — where fruit, acidity and tertiary development meld into balance and depth.

The language of the years

Ripe wine speaks in several layers:

fresh young notes slowly disappear
the complexity from forest floor, truffle, dried flowers and spice takes over
the tannins become softer, rounder and silkier
the finish has a length that is hard to forget

This means that a bottle from, for example, 1985 is not just a “label”. It is a living, independent experience – a piece of European cultural history in glass form.

From gift to investment

For many, Black Week is all about gifts – and wine is one of the most personal gifts you can give. But many of the bottles this year can also be seen as investments.
