Ja, een wijn uit 1944 kan nog drinkbaar zijn als hij op de juiste manier is bewaard. Port uit 1944 (vooral Colheita) toont vaak levendige tonen van noten en karamel, terwijl Barolo doorgaans delicater is en meer kan variëren in kwaliteit.
